Cinnamon is a great combination with apples, sugar in pastries, desserts, sweets, and dough-based dishes. It plays a huge roll in Portuguese, Turkish and Persian cuisines. It is evidently a rich source of calcium, dietary fiber, iron, vitamin K and Protein, it contains vitamins such as vitamin A, B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B6, B9 (Folate), vitamin C and vitamin E. Loaded with antioxidants, it cuts the risk of heart disease, improves hormone insulin and has a significant effect in reducing blood sugar, cinnamon is a great helper in fighting bacterial and fungal infections as well as containing anti-inflammatory properties. In essence, cinnamon proves to provide multiple health benefits.

Cinnamon roll or cinnamon bun is one of those ancient desserts or dough products, a Holiday bite that is known all over the world. it is called Kanelbulle in Sweden , known as kanelsnegl in Denmark and called franzbrotchen in Germany. It is a serious crime to cut cinnamon rolls into pieces before eating ????. It is to be picked up like a chicken lap and eaten until its finished. Its simple to make, tasty and takes a maximum of Fifty-five minutes to make. Cinnamon rolls can be made with two different types of dough, either a bread dough which is cost-effective, or a shortcrust dough. On the other hand, chocolate is a world-famous food ingredient/additives made from cocoa that has a whole lot of health benefits. Cinnamon and cocoa have as many contests that can speed up the body’s metabolism and aid fat burning.

Ingredients for making a shortcrust cinnamon rolls

  • 200g unsalted butter, 250g all-purpose flour, 130ml to 100ml of cold water, 2 tbsp of sugar (if making a sweet dish), 1/2 tsp salt, 3 tbsp cinnamon powder, 1/4 cup white sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1tsp cocoa, 1 apple (cut into stripes) optional, 1 egg (egg wash), chocolate spread (toppings).

Method

In a bowl, mix the cinnamon, cocoa,white and brown sugar and set aside. In another bowl, mix the sieved flour, salt, and sugar(if using), add half of the butter and mix, continue mixing while adding the cold water. Mix properly until it comes together to form an elastic dough. On a floured surface, place the dough, roll out placing the remaining butter in the middle of the dough. Fold the dough with the butter inside, dust with flour to avoid stickiness, pinch the edges and roll out the dough again until its a bit flat, do another folding and pinching. Repeat the process three more times, on the fourth time, roll the dough flat into a square or rectangle shape. sprinkle the sugar-cinnamon mixture and apple stripes on the flat dough and roll it up. The dough should look like a long tube. roll it up in a cling film and place in the fridge for ten minutes to firm up.

Place the dough in the fridge for 15minutes to firm up, turn on the oven and set the rack place a baking paper on a baking tray and grease. Bring out the dough after twenty minutes and cut into spiral shapes. place the spirals on the baking tray, egg wash, and bake on a temperature between 180oc to 200oc for 15 to 20 minutes. Drizzle little chocolate spread as toppings and your good to go.

Ingredients for making bread dough cinnamon rolls

  • 500g flour, 80g sugar, 80g margarine, 2 eggs, 300g water, 10g yeast, 5g salt, 3 tbsp cinnamon, 1/4 cup white sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 tsp cocoa powder, 1 apple, chocolate spread (toppings)

Method

In a bowl, mix the cocoa, cinnamon, brown sugar, and white sugar and set aside. In a mixing bowl, place the flour, sugar, yeast and margarine and mix, add the salt, mix again, add one egg and slowly add the water while mixing for 15 minutes on an electric mixer. Bring out dough and place in a floured bowl, cover with a towel or a cling film and place in a warm place for thirty minutes to double in size. Bring out the dough and place on a floured surface, roll out the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture, adding some apple stripes, roll up the dough with the mixture in the middle to form a tube. Cut into spirals, place the spirals on a greased baking tray, egg wash and bake btw 190oc – 210oc for fifteen to twenty minutes. Drizzle little chocolate spread as toppings and your good to go.
